Victoria Makin graduated from the University of Northumbria in 2000, with a degree in Fashion Design BA (Hons).
Specialising in accessories and printed textiles, she soon became famous for her stylish designs and worked
in house for a number of leading UK fashion brands.
Over the past twelve years, Victoria has successfully
injected her unique style by designing some of the best selling accessories on the British high street.
Her artistic flair became evident at a very young age: Victoria would sit and draw for hours upon hours inspired
by the glorious Yorkshire landscape. As a florist, her mother gave Victoria the opportunity to study and draw
each and every flower, learning their Latin origin in the process.
Over the years these basic pencil drawings evolved, becoming more detailed and intricate. Victoria began
experimenting with new materials and fabrics. She soon realised that each form and subject could be redefined
through a different media such as silk painting and screen printing. Expressing her love of colour combined with
a meticulous eye for detail, Victoria transforms drawings into designs and creates beautiful pieces of
jewellery, textiles and handbags.
Victoria's wonderful dream has come true with the launch of her first luxury handbag collection, exhibiting the
finest materials and the most delicate illustrations. The designer’s life-long love of detail and colour is equally
translated throughout the collection.
Victoria Makin's beautifully crafted handbags revisit and invigorate the timeless and powerful metaphorism of the
Dahlia, 'the queen dressed in splendour', which was so uniquely unearthed by poet Paul Verlaine and the symbolist
movement. Victoria Makin's accessories allow its select and exclusive female clientele to reaffirm and carry forward
their sense of sophistication, elegance and desirability.
